Trump Continues DISASTROUS Obama Policy That's Leaving Us Scratching Our Heads

It’s simply baffling that the Trump administration is not ending this Obama-era policy.

Former President Obama gave nearly $15.8 million to Macedonian groups who were linked to left-wing billionaire George Soros, and to organizations linked to his Open Society Foundations. The money, given through the USAID (Agency for International Aid) program, was used to interfere in Macedonia’s political process, the Daily Caller reported in March.

USAID, which is responsible for doling out civilian foreign aid, has officially partnered with the Open Society Foundations. Since 2012, the government agency has given $1.5 million in grants to organizations chosen by the Foundation Open Society – Macedonia (FOSM) and $4.8 million to launch a “Civil Society Project” implemented by FOSM.

Just last August, USAID announced a nearly $9.5 million program that would last until 2021 and would be administered in partnership with FOSM, Metamorphosis, the Association for Democratic Initiatives (ADI), and the National Youth Council of Macedonia. Metamorphosis was launched in 1999 by the Open Society Foundations and has since become independent.

This revelation prompted several lawmakers to call on President Trump to end this program. The goal of the program, with a budget of $22.7 billion, is to promote democracy and fight poverty across the globe. But clearly these funds were inappropriately used to promote left-wing causes overseas.

So they question remains: why has this program not been stopped by the Trump administration?

The Daily Caller recently followed up on their original story with a report that the Trump administration had sent Internews Moldova a grant for $6,349,728 over five years. This particular grant “aims to promote the development of an independent, professional media that gives citizens access to a variety of perspectives, and to create a media sector that is more resilient to political and financial pressures.”

This description of this funding opportunity is similar to the grants given by USAID in Macedonia. The report released by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence in January about Russian election interference focused heavily on state-funded media, which is exactly what USAID is doing here.

What is particularly troubling is that the media group receiving this grant, Internews, also has Soros’ Open Society Foundations as a prominent donor. This organization is also working with the Independent Journalism Center, which has the Soros Foundation-Moldova as a listed donor as well.

The President’s nominee for director of USAID has yet to be confirmed. We can only hope that once a new non-Obama era director is instituted that this left-wing propaganda scheme will be ended.

Don’t we have enough problems to deal with here in the United States? Like, say, a $20 trillion debt, a disastrous healthcare policy, desperate need for tax reform, etc? I think we have plenty we can do here in the States.

Come on Mr. President, time to carry out that “America First” theme throughout your administration. Your supporters are waiting.
