UPDATE: The Daily Caller reports that TheBlaze has suspended Lahren for at least one week.
Once billed as one of the next great rising stars of the conservative movement, TheBlaze TV host Tomi Lahren stunned supporters and critics alike during an appearance Friday on “The View” when she announced that she held a pro-choice viewpoint on abortion.
Borrowing terms from both the left and the right, Lahren attempted to defend her outlook of “leave my body alone” as being “limited government,” saying, “You know what? I’m for limited government, so stay out of my guns, and you can stay out of my body as well.”
According to The Hill, however, Lahren’s comments didn’t sit well with her boss, TheBlaze founder Glenn Beck, who excoriated his popular employee on Twitter by questioning her intellectual honesty on the subject.
Beck’s tweet was in response to a tweet Lahren had initially posted in response to the criticism she had received from betrayed conservative fans following her comments, writing, “have moderate, conservative, and libertarian views. I’m human. I will never apologize, to anyone, for being an independent thinker.”

Beck tweeted, “Wait, libertarian views? Help me out on Trumpcare, stimulus, and executive orders. Trump is anything but libertarian. #intellectualhonesty”

A report from The Daily Caller prior to Beck’s tweet noted that Lahren’s time at TheBlaze could be running short, as her contract expires in September and inside sources suggest she likely won’t be renewed.
Following this latest tiff, the possibility that she could be out of the network before her contract is up has likely increased.
It is worth noting that, for someone who claimed to hold libertarian views, Lahren is seemingly unfamiliar with one of the political ideology’s key tenets regarding limited government, that being John Stuart Mill’s “harm principle,” which essentially states that governments retain the right to exercise power over an individual’s liberty for the sake of preventing harm to others.
Thus, with this principle in mind, it becomes clear that one can simultaneously be in favor of limited government and against a woman’s right to choose the murder of an unborn baby.
Tomi Lahren might be wise to reconsider her stance when it comes to abortion, as abandoning the pro-life segment of her fan base likely won’t leave her with much support at all.
