Fox News viewers were yet again forced to say their goodbyes with another longtime The Five co-host Bob Beckel over a comment he made to one of the employees.
“Bob Beckel was terminated today for making an insensitive remark to an African-American employee,” said a spokesperson at the network in a short statement obtained by CNN.
The fired co-host is yet to comment on this and the question of a possible replacement remains on the table.
A couple of the lawyers, Douglas Wigdor and Jeanne Christense, who are working on a major racial lawsuit filed by current and former Fox News workers, stated that Beckel had said to an African-American IT worker that they are representing that he was leaving office as the worker serviced his computer since the worker is a man of color.
Following the employee’s complaint, Wigdor and Cristensen asserted that Beckel wanted to scare him into withdrawing it.
“As with our other 22 clients, we intend on holding 21st Century Fox accountable for these actions and will be filing multiple other complaints in other matters next week,” the two lawyers working on the case said.
In the past, Beckel has left Fox News at the end of 2015 as he was made surgery on the back. Bill Shine, who was back then the network’s vice president of programming, claimed that the network has had enough of being the lightning rod for Beckel’s “personal issues.”
“He took tremendous advantage of our generosity, empathy and goodwill and we simply came to the end of the road with him,” stated Shine back then.
The current CEO of Fox News, Rupert Murdoch, surprised a lot of people when he rehired Beckel at the start of this year saying he was “missed by many fans of ‘The Five.’”
