Congress Wants to Ban Muslim Terror Group That Obama Supported

A growing number of leading congressmen are voting to advance legislation outlawing a Muslim terrorist group that President Obama supported.

The Muslim Brotherhood Terrorist Designation Act now looks set to be signed into law under President Trump.

This week, the chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, Rep. Michael McCaul (R-TX) put his name to the bill.

It has already garnered the support of at least 90 representatives, including two Democrats.

The legislation designates the Muslim Brotherhood as a Foreign Terrorist Organization. It also highlights the ties between the group and the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR).

It was originally introduced by Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX).

The Obama Administration has vigorously opposed labeling the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization.

The group is based in Egypt. And following Egypt’s pro-democracy revolution in 2011, it managed to seize power.

The Obama Administration insisted that because it had rose to power through election, the Muslim Brotherhood was the rightful ruler of Egypt. That despite the many voices from Egypt pointing out the violence and intimidation the group had used to win the election.

When Egypt again rose in revolt against the Muslim Brotherhood, Obama actually spoke out on behalf of the jihadist group. That angered a great many Egyptians, including its new government.
