Barack Obama continues to take vicious shots on the chin from local governments as he rides out his final days in office.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton was successful in blocking Obama’s mandate that taxpayers foot the bill for transgender reassignment surgeries, as reported by Breitbart.
In addition, Paxton included blocking funding for abortions, which has liberals in a little bit of a tizzy to start off the new year.
Paxton wanted to protect the health care industry as a whole from performing operations that may be otherwise against their better judgement.
On this, he stated, “This striking example of federal overreach under Obamacare would force many doctors, hospitals, and other health care providers in Texas to participate in sex-reassignment surgeries and treatments even if it violates their best medical judgment or their religious beliefs.”
He continued, “I will always fight to protect the constitutional rights of Texans.”
And for that we thank you, sir!
The original legislation was a hotly debated topic when it was first introduced as it goes against strong conservative beliefs.
And Paxton is 100 percent right in saying doctors or other health care professionals should not be forced to provide a service that makes them uncomfortable. Furthermore, it is not fair to ask taxpayers to have to foot the bill for these elective surgeries, especially if they go against their core beliefs.
I would expect that once Trump takes office, he will have a little something to say about the dozens of states still respecting Obama’s mandate as he has been adamant he wants to turn more government control over to local levels.
It is yet another order given by Pres. Obama that needs to find its way to the shredder on January 20.
